Before you begin your journey into the land of correct color, you should first understand that your camera, your computer monitor, and your printer all speak a common technical language called color, but they each speak this language using a slightly different dialect. Therefore, moving images between devices requires accurate interpretation.

Interpreting these device dialects can be tricky, but your digital transfer will go smoothly once you understand the “cultural differences” between these devices. This book is intended to guide you through the process accurately and easily.

In order to print correctly, all photos should go through an initial processing stage prior to printing. Good image preparation is just as unique as good food preparation. Snapshots are like fast food meals — they may do the job but seldom win awards.

Each image is unique and therefore deserves individual attention to achieve the best results. Good image preparation is essential to good results. I’ll clearly describe how to adjust each image for optimal presentation.
